At a commendation ceremony held yesterday (11/6) Thames Valley Police officers and staff were recognised for their hard work and contributions to the force.

A total of ten commendations were awarded to those who had gone above and beyond what is expected of them in a wide range of situations they were presented with.

A further three officers also received long service medals for completing 20 years’ service, three members of staff received an award for 20 years’ service and a special constable received an award for nine years’ long service.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Constable John Campbell, Assistant Chief Constable Chris Ward and guest speaker Matthew Barber, Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner.

Among those being commended were PC Nazia Hussain, PC David Icke and PC Emily Chapman for their actions in protecting the victims of an extremely violent scene. When arresting the offender, the officers were assaulted and sustained minor injuries. Their selfless actions prevented the victims from being subjected to more serious harm.

An officer was commended for the commitment, dedication and resilience show throughout an investigation in which he had to overcome unforeseen and challenging difficulties. His work contributed greatly to eight members of an organised crime group receiving a total of 48 years’ imprisonment for conspiring to supply class A drugs.

PCSO Paul Colborne and PC Zoe Randolph were commended for their actions in saving the life of a man who had received a serious injury to his throat. They were faced with a shocking scene and acted with integrity, responsibility and selflessness to administer first aid to the victim and ensure the safety of others.

At the ceremony, Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Barber, said: “It’s very humbling to her the details of today’s commendations. The incidents I‘ve heard about are extraordinary and not typical. Everyone here today should be very proud, you are an inspiration to your colleagues and the public.”
