Appeal for witnesses following fatal collision – Amersham

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Amersham.

At 6.05pm yesterday (3/1) a white van was involved in a collision with a cyclist in Woodside Road at the mini roundabout junction with Chiltern Avenue.

Emergency services attended however the cyclist, a 45-year-old man from Amersham, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by a specially-trained family liaison officer.

The road was closed while officers investigated the collision and re-opened by 9.30pm.

Investigating officer PC Linzi Turner, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are currently working to establish the circumstances in this collision in which a man sadly lost his life and I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the events or who has any dash-cam footage of the incident.

“If you saw what happened and have not already spoken to police, please get in touch.”

A 36-year-old man from Chesham was arrested yesterday on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and was released on police bail until 14 January.
