Man jailed for drug offences – Oxford

Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, a man has been jailed for drug offences.

Devon Nelson, aged 54, of Cowley Road, Oxford was found guilty by unanimous jury of one count of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and one count of possession of a Class B drug.

It is in connection with an incident on 13 September last year when police detained and searched Nelson after stopping him in Cowley Road. A quantity of cash was seized.

A search was then carried out at Nelson’s home address and large quantities of Class A and Class B drugs were seized along with a large quantity of cash.

Nelson was charged on 14 September 2018.

Following a four-day trial at Reading Magistrates’ Court, Nelson was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment on Thursday (7/3).

Designated Case Investigator Steve Nicklin, based at Oxford police station said: “Tackling drug dealing is a top priority for Thames Valley Police.

“I believe this sentence shows that we will not tolerate this criminal activity, and we will continue to work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice.
