Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an assault – Reading

On Sunday 24 June at approximately 3pm, officers were called to the Village Pop-Up Bar, close to Reading Train Station. Two groups of men, approximately 10 in total, were fighting after the England versus Panama football match.

The victim, a 22-year-old man was punched unconscious by one of the men, and sustained a broken cheek bone, broken nose and bruising to his eye socket. The victim was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

The two groups of men are described as being white, in their early twenties with most wearing football shirts.

Investigating Officer Detective Constable Steve Martin of the Reading Investigation Hub said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have witnesses this assault to come forward.

“In particular, I would especially like to hear from anyone in the area at the time who has dash cam or mobile phone footage.

“You can do this by calling 101 and quoting reference number ‘43180191727’. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111”
